Ideas for a fall unconventional wedding

 
Autumn is the time of brilliant foliage, warm color views and the grape harvest. This is the best time to decide to get married in the Italian countryside: few tourists around, warm , but not hot weather and amazing landscape. Instead of the traditional wedding reception an alternative option can be a wine tasting reception, where each course is accompanied by a specific wine.


First of all you need to choose the venue. Tuscany, known throughout the world for the Chianti wine region, offers a great choice farmhouses, villas and castles , by the way there are other regions in Italy where you can enjoy a great wedding day.


In Northern Italy , Piedmont is renowned for its wines, in particular the Monferrato and Langhe hills, where you can taste a delicious cuisine and good wines, as for example the truffle risotto or the beef braised in Barolo wine. From the lake garda shores to the Val di Cembra terraces and the Valdobbiadene Prosecco area, Trentino and Veneto offer good venues for an unforgettable fall weddings. On the gentle hills and luxuriant vineyards you can find medieval castles and wineries, where you can offer your guests a delicious wedding dinner.

 
Apulia and Sicilia regions have a milder climate and they are certainly most recommended for an outdoor lunch or dinner. Apulia is the oldest wine-growing region of Italy and disposes of the most grape varieties. Old farmhouses called “Masseria” are nowadays great venues for marriages, immersed in olive groves and vineyards can be charme venues for country style weddings.


The wine tasting reception can be arranged outdoor , if the weather will permits, may be on a terrace with view on the vineyard. In case of bad weather the wine cellars is a good option for a rustic style dinner or you can go for the frescoe room of an ancient villa or a medieval castle, if there is a fireplace the atmosphere would be absolutely romantic.
 

The buffet aperitif/antipasto can be a selection of local salami, cold meat and cheeses, accompanied by biologic mustards and marmelades and honey. Mushrooms or Pumpkin risotto can be a good option for a served first course, for the main course you can offer wild boar with Polenta or roasted veal with apples or with mushrooms. Instead of the classic dessert or sorbet a chocolate tasting with bitters and liqueurs or a chocolate fountain. The wedding cake can be a chocolate and walnuts cake or a mixed cheeses cake.
